Let’s face it: if you are a worshiper to the goddesses of all things fashion, then like me, you have had your New Years party dress picked out for weeks now. We like to avoid the masses of post-Christmas discount hunter shoppers by selecting our threads early. Although, the crowds may have noticeably shrunken as Michael Barbaro reported in today’s New York Times, “the nations merchants began poring – or weeping – over holiday sales receipts Wednesday.” This devastating fashion industry news, “Major Retailers Feel the Squeeze,” received NYT front page coverage – eek! – hang in there guys! Even with the economy harshly affecting the usual throngs of clearance-rack vultures, we still feel it best to avoid this holiday rush by getting the good stuff pre-xmas rush. (After all, it is the law of the universe – The early bird gets the most fashion forward worm! – or something like that…)
The one thing I was not sure on yet was what accessories to pair with my fabulous mini shift. As a jewelry fanatic, this is of course my most important and, therefore, hardest decision. Then, when reading the infamous “What’s In/What’s Out” page of this January’s Harper’s Bazaar, all my worries disappeared. Statement cuffs, specifically the featured unique Nicole Landaw gold beauty, (Luprocks member and special friend to us at Lup HQ!), are perfect because “Big and bold never looked so good,” while “piles of string bracelets look disheveled.” This not-too-chunky yet eye-catching original design by Nicole Landaw is sure to leave me golden!
So the silk gold mini dress with black sequined belt, (sequins are so “it” right now), is awaiting its big debut. I will pair it with a big gold cuff – thanks HB – and patent leather shoes, which has been a staple item of mine since childhood. Seriously, at the age of five I got my first pair of black Mary-Jane patents, and as I grew older the heel grew taller.
Happy Wearing!
