LupRocks.com turned 1 last month! Today we sent out the first of many installments of our new (largely viral) marketing campaign the response was phenomenal! We don't like to count our chickens before they hatch, but within minutes of sending the below email we heard from two major movie productions who want to work with us, and we saw that a number of top editors click through and browsed the site. Get ready to reap the benefits of our marketing efforts!

PR Squared brought this Gary Vaynerchuck video to my attention today. Please excuse the language since it gets a little R-rated at points, but the overall message and enthusiasm are inspiring enough to balance out the curse words. Two messages from this that I think will resonate well with my beloved designers:1) You must love what you do (we all need a need to be reminded of this) and 2)connecting (via web) and caring about your customers is more important and more accessible than ever.
Just a reminder for those of you trying to keep a pulse on the string of Fashion Weeks that are upon us, and the styles they bring into the spotlight, you can see all the runway shows from New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week on Style.com. So far in terms of jewelry, my pick for best trend, and I have WWD to back me up, is the statement necklaces made of pearls and flowers seen on the runway of Giorgio Armani.
This past Wednesday night, I attended the launch party of an exciting new magazine called Boho. It was held at a very quaint Soho boutique called Kaight, and the refreshments consisted of a new kind of vodka that is healthy for you. Well, not exactly, but it is enriched with antioxidents. It was a great even, and we here at Lup HQ are very excited about this all green ecofirendly magaizne. Plus, even in the first issue we saw two LupRocks desigenrs: AJaron and Shag Bags. We can't wait to see what else they have in store for next issue!
You can purchase BoHo magazine at any specialty newstand or take a look online.
With still images of Catherine Zeta Jones and cast flooding the pages of the web, I began to get really excited for the upcoming movie The Rebound. If you had jewelry pulled for this flick, I suggest doing some surfing, becasue i found a lot of great images out there in cyberspace. I can't wait to see the movie to see who is featured, but I do have an inside scoop that RedStart and Amelia Rose had jewelry placed on Catherine herself. See an image below from Amelia Rose. Congrats Ladies!
The idea expressed in this video, courtesy of PR-Squared via Slate, is so ridiculous that I found myself giggling while watching it. It also reminded me that I wanted to see The Women. I (the consumer) am reminded of the product in question while being entertained. Guerrilla marketing is at play, and the goal of the marketer is reached.
Whether or not this video is actually affiliated with the movie The Women, the flash message at the end of this video claims it is not, it still provides a good example of a successful (as PR-Squared points out it is "making the rounds") marketing campaign. That being said, while "faking this" is a genius marketing tactic, actually putting this into practice is sort of cruel.
Now that Gossip Girl
has started, I find myself yearning for my other favorite shows to return with
new episodes. Namely, my Thursday night
fixes – Grey’s and Ugly Betty. I am specifically excited for Ugly Betty, which is now featuring
LupRocks.com members! So far, I know Diana Heimann, Gemma Redux, and Judith Bright
had placements in this very cute, and at times very funny, show. Let me know if you had product pulled for
Ugly Betty and I didn’t mention it here! With all the beautiful jewelry our designer have to offer it is nice to know some beauty will be add to the "Ugly" in the show - although, come to think of it - no one on the show is actually ugly at all, but you get my drift. Plus this season will feature some exciting cameo appearances! Ugly Betty returns on
September 25, at 8/7c.
Also don’t forget that tomorrow when you hit the theaters to
see The Women to keep a keen eye out
for all the jewelry!!
OMG! Gossip girl is
back, and I could not be more excited. Hence, my ridiculous expression of the shows famous acronym. Whether you are a fan of the show or just a
fan of seeing your jewelry on the show, everyone can admit the show is serving
a great purpose: mindless entertainment, addicting plot stories, amazing
product placement opportunities.
From the first two episodes, I am proud to say that at least
three LupRocks.com designer’s jewelry was spotted on the lovely ladies of
GG. Alex Woo had a “BW” diamond necklace
worn on Blair in last nights party, Laura James had a cameo necklace featured
on Vanessa, and Marya Dabrowski had two necklaces featured on the new character
Catherine the Duchess.
Was your jewelry also spotted on our favorite leading
ladies?! Let me know…
Waiting in line at the security checkpoint at O’Hare airport
yesterday, I could not help but notice some improvements they have made. For those of you that haven’t traveled
recently, let me catch you up. In order
for me to get through security without being stopped, I have to take off my
shoes, belt, and sweater, take my laptop out of the case and put it in its own
bin, and take my plastic zip-lock bag containing my less than 3oz bottles of liquid
out of my luggage and put it through separately. Once I am through security with boarding pass
in hand, I have to get dressed again, and pack everything back in its proper
bags before I can be on my way to the gate. Add in the amount of people (a lot) who do not know the rules and have
to walk back through a second time, and you can imagine the delay, and worst
the cluster of people bent over (not a pretty site) trying to get their shoes back
on right in the way of where you need to walk.
The airport did not make the rules about the shoes, laptops,
and liquids, but they did what they could to adapt to the situation they were
given. Since last month, they put a new
area of benches with tables outside of the checkpoint where people can put their
things together and put their shoes back on. It made things a lot less clumsy and crowded. It made me, the flyer (customer), less
frustrated with the process.
Being able to adapt to the situation at hand is a necessary
component to keeping your customers happy. We can’t control the economy, the price of gold, of the leather your
vendor didn’t ship you, but we can react and adapt to keep our customers happy.
And the real key is to figure out what adaptations you need to make much faster
than it took the airports to figure it out.
